Now she just opens the closet door and—snap!—down folds a compact ironing board that lives tucked inside. The $85 Amazon find is a dream for anyone who irons in a hurry or simply doesn’t have space for a full-size board. It rotates 180 degrees, so you’re not constantly flipping garments, and installation only requires basic drill skills. Ahead, Silber shares why this hidden gem earned a permanent spot.

Silber used to tackle a whole stack of shirts on a full-size board while watching TV from her laundry-kitchen combo. These days, with fewer dress shirts in the rotation, she reaches for the retractable board for quick touch-ups—especially when her own clothes arrive wrinkled from shipping or the wash.

The compact board took about 10 to 15 minutes to install and fits at the bottom of the cabinet without rearranging a single hanger. Silber keeps a small iron next to it, and when the doors are closed, the whole setup disappears. Closet aesthetics: intact.
